A 2023 Health Journey

I turned 45 in 2023 and my body decided to show up and show out! It was like, “Ma’am you are joining the 45 and up age bracket, you need to stay on top of your ‘rooter to the tooter’ check-ups so you can live a long, happy, and healthy life.” In January ‘23, I started having some pain in my left foot. It was a similar pain to what I experienced a decade prior when I had to have the bunion on my right foot corrected. Then, because of family history, I was five years overdue for my colonoscopy. In May, my uterus was like, “Ya’ll ain’t fittin’ to leave me out these shenanigans,” and joined the party.

I had my first colonoscopy in August, my bunion surgery in September, and my fibroid surgery in November. The 2023 health journey was afoot, and now that we are firmly in 2024, I’m happy to report that I’m all shiny and new! Health is truly wealth and I believe we can improve our health outcomes with dialogue, information sharing, and research from reputable sources. Join me in a recapitulation of my 2023 health happenings and make sure you are navigating your own health journeys, so you may live long and prosper.
